Our Story

The President, Felix Sandy, is both a two-time Olympic sprinter and an experienced educator and mentor. Mr. Sandy holds a B.S. in Business Administration and a master's in Management Information Systems (MIS). He started Athletes for Better Nations (AFBN) to empower the nation of his home country Sierra Leone by maximizing the athletic and academic potential of young student-athletes. Mr. Sandy is truly dedicated to supporting emerging athletes, which remains a core value of our organization, beginning with his own children. Mr. and Mrs. Sandy have combined their expertise to offer professional consultation services designed to support clients in effectively managing their projects.
The services offered encompass IT Consultation, Athletic Investment Review, Business Start-up Support, as well as the systematic recording, organizing, and monitoring of financial transactions to ensure accurate record-keeping is obtained. She brings deep expertise in IT program and portfolio management, digital transformation, and enterprise governance, supported by advanced degrees and professional certifications in business administration and information technology.
Throughout her career, Valerie has led complex IT transformation initiatives, managed diverse, cross-functional teams, and delivered measurable operational efficiencies for federal agencies. She has served in senior leadership roles including Associate Director, Section Chief, Senior IT Program Manager, and Senior IT Portfolio Manager, providing executive-level oversight and strategic direction.
Valerie’s experience spans enterprise IT management, IT modernization, cloud migration, emerging technologies, and architectural implementation. She is recognized for her ability to stabilize programs, align technology with mission outcomes, and deliver results in highly regulated federal environments.
